VINE BLOSSOMS…?

VINE BLOSSOMS…?

The flowering of the vine is a crucial moment — a delicate and fundamental phase in the winemaking process.
This is when the tiny flowers release pollen, enabling fertilization and allowing the grape clusters to begin forming.

Have you ever seen Glera in bloom?

The flowers are almost imperceptible, made up of tiny yellow-white petals, but they release an intense, unmistakable fragrance!
It’s a true spectacle of nature, though, unfortunately, a very brief one. In just over a week, the flowering is already over.

Visiting our hills during this period is a truly special experience, full of surprising scents and landscapes.

But what are the ideal conditions for a successful flowering?

  • temperatures around 20°C to 25°C (or between 15°C and 30°C)

  • balanced humidity levels

  • proper sun exposure

  • prevention of diseases through careful monitoring of pathogens

  • support from the grower by thinning leaves to improve sunlight and air circulation

The flowering of the vine is a fascinating and complex process that requires careful attention from the growers.
Its success directly affects the productivity and quality potential of the harvest.

With proper vineyard management, and a bit of luck with the weather, flowering can lead to a fruitful growing season and the production of high-quality wines.
